Level X - Rules of the board game

Level X opening screen

Objective of the game

By cleverly grouping dice and making totals between 5 and 10, players move their pieces on the board.

They score points when a piece reaches an X square.

Players constantly fight for the right spot at the right time.

The components

The board is made of 6 rows, numbered from 5 to 10.

Each row has a different length, with an X square at its end.

It also contains a certain number of scoring tokens (from 7 to 12). Their scoring value is equal to the number displayed on the row.

Each player has 6 pieces, one for each row. These pieces will move on the rows.

4 bonuses are laid below the board. They are worth 15, 12, 9 and 6 points.

Finally, the game has 4 dice, that players roll at the beginning of their turn.Level X middle game

Grouping dice

Players roll 4 dice and must then decide how to group them.

Moving a die from a group to another is done by:

  1. clicking on the die to select it
  2. clicking on the (+) sign on the target group

Moving pieces

Once a player has made up his mind, he validates his move by pressing the OK button.

For each group, the values of the dice are added together. If this total is between 5 and 10, a piece is moved forward on the corresponding row.

If a piece is already on an X square, it does not move.

X squares

Unlike other squares, there can only be one piece on an X square.

When a piece moves to an occupied X square, the occupier is sent back to the beginning of the row.

Scoring tokens

Players earn a token when:

  • they make the total with the dice
  • AND they reach the X square (or are already on it)
  • AND there is at least one token left on the row

Bonuses

Bonuses are earned by collecting a complete set of tokens.

As soon as a player gets one token of each value (between 5 and 10), he can take the biggest available bonus.

Similarly, the player gets a second bonus when he has two tokens of each value.

He can get a third bonus and even a fourth one if he can get 3 or 4 tokens of each.

Of course, a player cannot take a bonus if there is none left.

End of the game

The game ends when:

  • All bonuses are awarded
  • OR 3 rows have no tokens left

If the end of the game is triggered by the first player, then the second player gets a chance to play one additional turn.

The first player has a (1) next to his score.

The player with most points wins the game.
