Tutorial, training, online play / Re: Any info on how the AI works?

I suspect the real trick to differentiating the difficulty of playing with different bots rests on the the fact that there is not really a fixed draw pile or a fixed opponent/bot hand. In other words, the only cards the human player knows of are those that have been observed in their hand or on the board. The computer algorithm can select any possible remaining non-observed card to be the next card played onto the board by the bot, and can select any possible remaining non-observed card to be the next one you draw in each subsequent turn. Think about it - it’s so much easier to control the experience the human player will have. The aim is to make each game a 50/50 outcome for the human player, revealing a more or less challenging starting deal to the human player, and then determining the sequence of subsequently revealed cards as the game progresses, based on a player’s performance.

This is why the experience is so different when you face human opponents.

It is so clever to do it this way!!

Lost Cities / Re: Is scoring of Lost Cities unfair/biased?

Regarding Lost Cities, as has been said, part of what makes it fun and exciting is trying to figure out how much you should give up in some expeditions to go for the big bang ones. The Happy Meeple version plays a bit different than the official game because it's one hand instead of three. That makes luck much more important here.
I know it's an old thread but I'm curious what does this mean:

The official game rules recommend playing three hands (or three games) and adding the scores together to determine the winner. On Happy Meeple we play one hand (or one game) and that one score is the final score to determine the winner.

I am guessing that 2-game rankings were removed some time ago but I like the fact that there are still rankings for "best 3 games" and "all games".  It was the former that first motivated me to expand beyond the games I already played well.  However, because some games seem to have much higher (absolute) ratings than others, I might have preferred to see overall rankings based on relative position/rank (e.g. 1st + 2nd + 7th = 10, where low is better) rather than average rating.

I don't even know what they are, so I guess you have my vote to delete them also  :)

Happy Meeple community / Re: Server down?

I believe it went down at 10.15 PM UK time ( Now 15:37 PM the next day).    I was concerned that I would be deducted ratings points for the game that I was playing as I had just started a game of "Raging Bulls".  However I can assure any players at that time, that I was not penalised and therefore any games were just cancelled and no points lost.
