I have to laugh.  After posting my message, and heading back to the Inn to log out, I noticed a new lucky card and couldn't resist checking it.

I got a small magic potion.

Now I can't resist playing a couple of games.

I sure hope I don't disconnect in any of them.   lol!

(I can't find a laughing emoji)

I just had 2 disconnects in a row.  In one game I was able to reconnect and complete the game.  In the other, it didn't work.

Because they were so close together, I am concerned they will keep happening.  Given it's hard enough to rank up, I don't want to sabotage my efforts with more disconnects.  So I probably won't play here more today.

There was a message at the top of this when I first entered.  It reads:
Warning: this topic has not been posted in for at least 120 days.
Unless you're sure you want to reply, please consider starting a new topic.

I posted it in this thread because Jimmy provided some useful information that newer players might not have seen.  So this bump is also to get that information circulating again.  It might save a few games for players today.

Happy Meeple community / Too many chat messages ???

I think the system might be a bit buggy at the moment.

My opponent just sent a message, saying "Hello".  A few seconds later he timed out.  I think his page might have frozen.

I sent him a message saying - "What happened?"

It did not appear in the chat window.

Then a few seconds later I got a message from Happy Meeple saying:
"You have sent too many chat messages!"

I have sent many messages over the time I have played here.
But, I have never seen that system message before.

What gives?

I've had this happen, but only under a certain circumstance.
I've never had it happen when I add a specific person.
The only condition under which I've seen it, is if I open a table for all friends.

Under this condition, a person who is not on my friend's list can add me as a friend, and then join, even if they are not on my friend's list.

I have an alternate view of this.

If someone much prefers fast playing games, (for most games) there already exists a solution.
Play with bots.   They play extremely fast.

When a human plays, many things might interfere with their ability to play quickly.  Maybe they got a phone call.  Maybe a pot came to a boil in the kitchen.  Maybe their cat or dog just knocked over something that must be attended to.  Maybe they had to go to the bathroom.  Maybe food was just delivered - or a package had to be signed for.  Maybe a child or other family member needed attending.  There are probably many, many other things that can interfere with the ability to play quickly.

My point is - humans are not bots.
Life is happens around us that is not visible to an online opponent.

Any time we play with a human opponent we have to accept the fact that they might not play as quickly as we would prefer.  As things stand now, if someone absolutely must have a fast playing opponent, then they should take a bot as an opponent.

I don't know how difficult it would be from a structural point of view, but another alternative might be for the site to be redesigned to allow different kinds of human games.  When setting up a table, a person could chose to have games that started with a variety of time settings - such as choosing to have a game with 1 min, 2 min or 3 minute limits on time settings for turns.

I suspect this might be a monumental restructuring of the site.  So I don't know if this would be a realistic possibility.

For the mean time, if slow turns are upsetting, just choose to play with a bot.

Very sorry to hear this.
I wish you guys good luck.

I think maybe you are right.
It would make sense.

Thanks for the reply.   :D

... that you join a game in the INN, wait a while, and suddenly you get a message that says:

Match cancelled or terminated

This just happened twice in a row (against the same player).
Was the player somehow able to not join the game (even though they opened the table)?
Or did they disconnect?

Whenever I've opened a table, and someone joins the game, I've never been offered the choice to back out of the game.
So I'm baffled when every now and then this occurs.

Much appreciate anyone who can shed some light on this.

It looks like they are up and running again!
Thank you

(But I'm curious, what in the world happened to make them stop?)

Thanks Marlene for the heads-up! And sorry for not replying earlier.

Anybody else agreeing?

Today there are 5 people at the top of the ranking. Is it possible that it is always the same 5 people there, players that do all quests every day? Then it would give the impression that nothing changes.

Thanks!

Yesterday, or the day before yesterday, Petra (who is another one of the 5 at the top of the quest rankings) also noticed it.
He made a post in the INN chat:

1d Petra S.
Hallo does anyone know why there were no points for the daily quest yesterday and the day before yesterday

12
Jimmy, at the start of each Quest Day, everyone's score drops due to the oldest score falling off, and no one having done the new one.

But for several days now, the top 5 people in the ranks have had a score of 282.    It never drops.
I have completed the daily quest each of these days, and gotten the notification that I completed it.
But my score never goes up.

I can't speak for the entire list, but I'm familiar with the top 5, and none of their scores have gone either up or down.  Normally all of our scores first go down, and then over the course of the day most will go up again.

I'm not sure about the rewards.  for some reason, today, I got the impression that the coins did not go up  BUT I have not checked the coin amount before completing the quest.  So I could be completely wrong about this.  I hope to remember to check it tomorrow.

Thanks for looking into this.

I think we are now up to day 4 of no change to the rankings for the Daily Quest.

14
For the past two day the rankings for the daily quest have not been updated.
When you complete the Daily Quest, the board acknowledges that, and pays out the reward.
At least I think it pays out the reward.  I haven't checked my before and after.
Perhaps it would be more accurate for me to say that the announcements say I have earned the reward.

Yesterday I mentioned it in the Inn chat and I did send in a note by way of that pencil icon, but have not yet received a response.
So I figured I should post here so the whole matter does not get lost.

Thanks for any help you can provide.

An attention grabbing warning sounds like a good idea.

Maybe also, if the person is completing the last game they need to complete the daily when the clock turns over, they get credit for the game that was begun before it ran out.
