Glastonbury / Re: Hard for color blind players
« on: 09/03/18, 09:08pm »
I agree that the "blue" and green are too similar.  The blue is not really blue, it's more of a turquoise or a teal.  It has too much yellow/green in it to be able to easily distinguish to two colors.  For me, this is much more of a problem at night.

I'd like clarification on what you mean by replay.
do you mean -
to be able to watch the game as it played out, but not be able to interact with it except to pause or rerun
or do you mean -
to actually replay the game?

I think being able to watch it to see it unfold would be a useful way to analyze it.  But I think actually replaying it is not needed - unless the results of the replay game did not impact any scores.  To be able to simply replay it for fun, would be fine.

you could get a bonus,
but remember the onus
is on you
to click it twice
for something nice.

Someone more poetic than I please feel free to modify that as you wish.

Cute!  Very cute.

Thanks for the chuckle, Doug.  :D

Having had a bit more time to think about this since I launched this branch of the thread, I have two more thoughts; a further insight, and a suggestion.

1. I figured out why I didn't realize you have to click a second time.  Its the way the page formats on my computer.  The card is not normally visible to me.  I have to scroll down quite a bit to find it.  Once I had clicked and saw my reward, I reflexively jumped back up to the top of the page where the games are.  As a result, I didn't see the jumping card down below.

2. To make it more obvious to others who might quickly click and leave, simply add words to the card itself.  Put them above the reward.
 Something like:
(and then show the reward)

(This, of course, would not make sense on the unlucky card.)

I'm a little confused on how this works.

Four times I clicked the card and got the following results:
1.  Unlucky
2. +1 gold  (I didn't look at my gold before clicking the card)
3. +1 gold ( I checked my gold before clicking, and the +1 gold was not added to the total I had)
4. +1 gold ( I checked my gold before clicking, and the +1 gold was not added to the total I had)

So I don't know where the bonus gold shows up, or maybe I don't know when it shows up.  But it doesn't seem to be updating.

Editing to add this note:
I went back to the main page and noticed the 1 gold card was still up and it was flashing.  So I clicked it.  It then updated my gold total to include the new gold I won.

So that's the trick.  You have to click the card again, AFTER it shows you what you won for it to be added to your total.

I'm leaving my note up, just in case anyone else has the same problem, so that they can see the solution without the busy admin having to answer it.

Thanks for the lovely site - and the new bonuses!  ;D

It would be nice to be able to see the mean, median and mode of the scores for each of the games.

Also it would be nice to be able to scroll rather than advance or retreat by only +5 or - 5.  On my own, I've been trying to get the median for each of the games.  It's excruciating to try to find it for the very popular games.  Lost Cities has 3826 players.  From where I currently stand, I have to click a +5  about 248 times.

My weeping fingers beg for your help. :'(

Thank you for your consideration. :)

Your score might actually be 1549.5, 1549.6, 1549.7, 1549.8 or 1549.9 - something just a hair under 1550.  The part that is displayed gets rounded up.  But internally you have not quite hit 1550.

Hang in there, you are almost home.   :D

Just realized my post here is misleading, or at least confusing.

It's because I copy pasted part of the post from the message I tried, but was unable to send, when I first clicked on the link to the Happy Meeple profile link for the Senior Admin.

The opening sentence was typed directly into this post:

I had decided to register my guest account, but hesitated for two reasons.  I do not wish to state them here.  I tried to send a PM the the Happy Meeple Admin - but was not able to send the note.

The remainder of my post was simply a copy paste of the end of the note I tried to send:

I then ran into a problem trying to send this note.   I can't read all of the verification letters.  I see some, but I'm confused by one or two of them.  And I can't hear anything when trying to listen to the letters.  Tried using the solution, and it downloaded something on to my computer that I can't figure out how to use.

I will just keep trying.  Hopefully one of them will be clear enough that I can get it right.

And I don't understand the verification questions.  One of them said something like
12-10:
What is that?  Am I supposed to pick the number of letters in the verification code?  If so the numbers don't match.

Sheesh - this seems a lot harder than it ought to be.

When I originally typed it, I thought I'd eventually be able to get it to work.  But after several failed attempts, I gave up, and came here to make the post.  I was a bit frustrated and tired of trying to type out the explanation, so I just copied the part from the end of my failed attempts at sending the PM.  But it makes it sound like I had those problems trying to post on the forum.  That's not the case.

Sorry for the confusion.    All of that stuff happened when I was trying to send a PM to Happy Meeple Sr Admin, from the Happy Meeple profile page.

(sheesh!  It still sounds confusing.  I hope it makes a bit more sense to you.)

I've primarily been playing 4 games.
Level X
Keltis Card
Glastonbury
Siberia
I play the other games as well, but enjoy these the most.  I've been trying to keep these 4 together in their progress.  I rotate through them based on their progress.   I just earned the Black 5 meeple on 3 of them.  Glastonbury was the only one left.  It was at 96% experience, so it too, was set to earn the new Meeple.   I lost the game, but hit 100% experience.  But no new Meeple.

I then noticed that I was now required to have a score of 1800 (plus the 100% exp).  I earned 2 of my previous Black 5 meeples earlier today (my time, might be yesterday for the site's time) and was only required to have a score of 1750.  And 1750 had been the requirement for Glastonbury as well.  I track the score needed for each next meeple and calculate how far above or below the target I am.   At 1776 I would earn the Black 5 when the requirement was 1750, but I just miss it when it's 1800.

This came as a sudden and unpleasant surprise, because there was no announcement of this increase.

Why did the score requirement increase?
and why no announcement warning us?

Looks like a good game!

I am confused by one thing, though  (probably confused by more than one ;D).  - But for now, scoring the Trade-off marker has me baffled:

Choose  2  cards  from  your  hand,  and  place  them  face-down under  the  Trade-off  marker. These cards will
not be scored  in this round.

1. If the game is won in the first round, are the points from these cards completely lost?
2. When are these points added in?

Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

What about if the lake replenished itself, the way food does?

It could replenish at a much slower rate.  ex: for every 2 food, 1 fish would appear, or for every 3 food, or 5 food - or some multiple of food, add 1 fish to the lake.
