Thanks for your post!

I have a chance to play it 3 times so far. And I like it.

I have been beaten every time so it seems I am still learning I struggled badly with a lack of resources in the last two games. In the second one, I tried a science strategy that failed miserably, in the last one, I tried an attacking strategy that failed badly while my opponent comfortably made it with a science approach!

So my advice is take resources in the first phases. You will need them all along!

I look forward to playing again. I can't stay on two heavy losses

OK. Sound and music does not suit every circumstance. So it is reasonnable to turn them off.

But here are a few reasons why you should at least turn on sound effects (Fx).

1) you get notified (bell sound) when an online match starts. You can safely do something else while you wait for an opponent and you will not miss the start of the game.
2) You get notified (bell sound) when it is your turn to play and you don't have much time left. You will not lose the game because you played too slowly or because you mistakenly thought it was your opponent's turn.
3) You get notified when a friend logs in (whistle sound). Very convenient isn't it?
4) You get notified when a new message is posted in the inn chat or in a personal chat. You won't miss a message any more.
5) You get a little sound on active buttons. you see better what is active and what is not.
6) You get a sound when you click on a button. You then know that your action has been received by the browser.

To turn on sound effects, look at the top right of the menu page. Click on the little sound icon! Then the 3 sound settings will appear.

We also recommend to turn on atmosphere and music but they are less important. Atmosphere is for the menu page only whereas Music is for the games mostly (but is also played if you select a game via the green dice interface on the main menu)


PS: please note that because of technical limitations on those systems, Android machines can only play Sound effects (not atmosphere and music) while iOS machines cannot play any sound at all.

Thanks for posting in the forum. That's the best way to ask questions. Then we get a trace for the future.

Yes it has always been like this because Safari could not play several sounds at the same time. I should have a look to see if it can do it better now.

From today, you'll hear a sound when hovering your mouse on most buttons (including the one at the top of the menu page). See this thread for more info: Happy Meeple platform updates

Please give me your feelings about it!

Are there too many sounds? Would it be better to have these sounds only for the top menu icons?

The job is not finished. There are quite a few places where there is no sound but there should be. However if you tell me that there are already too many sounds and it is annoying, I will go backwards.

2016/03/15 - Sounds on hover and click on buttons

The main menu icons received a little makeover. Firstly the orders of the buttons has changed to make the inn more prominent. Secondly, the icons are going up when leaving the mouse over them. Also they get a little sound at the same time. Another sound is played when the icon is clicked.

Other buttons in the interface have received the same treatment (sound on hover and sound on click)

On the back side, there has been a few improvements too:

- cleaning in the code (deleting files that are not needed any more),
- making of a few sprites (images that contain several images) to minimize the number of requests to the server and improve the pages loading time,
- concatenating and compressing some Javascript files that had never been dealt with. This should also lower the number of requests to the server and pages loading time,

The number of requests to the server and total traffic should be shrinked by about 10%.

You will get the white meeple after your second game.

If you win the tutorial game, you get the white meeple straight away. Otherwise you need to play once again the tutorial or any training game.

Training games count towards the bot challenge. So you can pick the missing bot from there. Of course online games also count for the bot challence. In short you can beat the bots in training or online, it is the same.

The only limitation is if you are not strong enough in online play. Then your rating does not go up enough to unlock all bots. In that case, you will never have access to all bots unless you spend a few coins to unlock them.

Other digital games / Google bot beats one of the best Go players

When I started programming Artificial Intelligence in 1998, Go was impossible to program. We used to say the best program had at best the level of a club player after 6 months of play.

Now Google AI has just beaten one of the best players in the world. This is a massive milestone.

And I think this shows that Artificial Intelligence will take a major part in our lives in the coming years.

I did not think I would say that so quickly but it seems to be happening.

Hi Johannes,

On the main menu page (once logged), look at the top right icons! Click on the settings icon (the wheel). Then on the settings screen you can change your password for standard login.

Hi Lisa,

Well it it a matter of space. Displaying the real cards with their actual artwork would require a lot of space (otherwise you would not see much). The figures would also need to cover the art for readability.

The middleground I chose was to display art in the expeditions. At some point, I thought I would make the background move every time a card is played in an expedition. I am still not sure if this would look good. I may try some day. But as you guess, this is yet one or two days of work.
