[7 Wonders Duel]
Jimmy V.:
Hi all,
I wanted to start a discussion about 7 Wonders Duel.
For those who have no idea what this game is about, they must first know that it is the 2-player version of the widely acclaimed 7 wonders game. It is a separate game from the original specifically designed for 2 players and only 2 players.
It takes many of the features of the original game and if you are familiar with 7 wonders, it will not take you very long to understand 7 Wonders Duel. I know. That's what I have just done: I have just finished going through the rules (very good ones BTW and it is important to mention) and they were easy to follow.
I have to say that I was slightly skeptical about this game at first although international reviews anonymously received the game as one of the greatest. But after going throught the rules, my doubts are cleared. I can foresee great fun and variety in this game. I feared it would be too much of a computing exercise, but I have seen many elements in the rules and in the cards that make sure the game can't be dry.
So I really look forward to playing my first game of 7 Wonders Duel.
I wonder(!) if you played it and what your thoughts are.
Gerry S.:
It is as great as they say. A lot of Strategy in what card to pick. Do you build a pyramid now to get an extra turn or wait? How are you going to win? A lot of choices to make and each game is different because the cards are never the same and in the same place. There are not that many great 2 player games but this Is one of them. My wife will play it too cause she has a chance of winning without it being too long of a game.
Jimmy V.:
Hi Gerry,
Thanks for your post!
I have a chance to play it 3 times so far. And I like it.
I have been beaten every time so it seems I am still learning :) I struggled badly with a lack of resources in the last two games. In the second one, I tried a science strategy that failed miserably, in the last one, I tried an attacking strategy that failed badly while my opponent comfortably made it with a science approach!
So my advice is take resources in the first phases. You will need them all along!
I look forward to playing again. I can't stay on two heavy losses :)
Nicolas.

I haven't played either but they look interesting. How does Duel compare to the 2 player version of 7 Wonders? We often play games with 2 players but frequently 3, so if the 2P version of 7W is inferior to Duel (which I suspect it may be) that makes the decision hard.
Olione O.:
Hi,
I have it.
This game is really accessible.
I play with 7W and 7W Duel without preference: they are two different games and I like them.
@Keith: 2P version of 7W is inferior to Duel. 7WDuel has a real raison to exist.
@HM: Let's go : create the game online! :D
