Dear Happy Meeple players,

We have a new protocol in place for communication with our game server. Hopefully, this will lead to better speed and fewer issues. We have not released it to everyone. If you want to help us test it, please reply here! I will then activate your account.

Once your account is activated, please logout and login again! Then everything should be as usual (with a better speed and a better reliability) and you should be able to play online. If you don't logout, the page will probably not load correctly. In that case, use this address to logout: www.h...pymeeple.com/en/logout_final.php

Please then give us a quick feedback on how it went. Was the games running faster? For example when drawing a card from a deck, was the response better?

Tips, polls, updates / Your feedback on future new version

As you can see from the screenshots below, we are preparing a new version of the main page.

Can you give us your thoughts about the two main changes?

1) the interface in general
- do you like it?
- is is readable?
- is the list of games good enough? Any information missing?

2) most importantly, the Meeple Times zone, a constanlty changing newspaper that will inform you on what is going on, particularly what you have been doing and what your friends have been doing.
- do you like it?
- is it readable?
- the font size varies with the importance of the news and its freshness. This is done so you never miss anything new. In the 2nd screenshot, the font sizes don't change. That gives a more rigid layout, but maybe more readable. I fear though that you will not see what changed since the last time the news were generated. What do you think?

Tips, polls, updates / Suggest a newspaper title

Hi all,

You will soon see a personalized "newspaper" with all the latest relevant information (general news, friends activity, daily quests, etc.). This will most likely be displayed in a short version at the top of the main menu page.

I want to give this newspaper a name and I'd like you to give suggestions.

The two most obvious names are:

- The Daily Meeple
- The Meeple Times

Any other ideas? Please suggest!

When we have a few more good suggestions, I will put them to vote.

Happy Meeple community / Proper behaviour

Hi all,

We have been informed that a few players have had bad manners in the last few weeks. Although in minority these players clearly don't stick to the Happy Meeple spirit and we do not want to tolerate this.

We endeavour to offer a place to play board games online and have fun in a nice environment.

We want to make clear that the use of swear words is absolutely forbidden on the platform. Playing moves very slowly on purpose (generally when losing) to annoy the opponent is also extremely bad manners that we do not tolerate.

The range of sanction goes from temporary ban in chat to account deletion.

I know that games can be frustrating at times. If you have a tendency to lose temper, please buy a giant meeple plush and kick it hard to relieve the stress when needed! This will be much better than throwing your anger at your opponent.

OK. Sound and music does not suit every circumstance. So it is reasonnable to turn them off.

But here are a few reasons why you should at least turn on sound effects (Fx).

1) you get notified (bell sound) when an online match starts. You can safely do something else while you wait for an opponent and you will not miss the start of the game.
2) You get notified (bell sound) when it is your turn to play and you don't have much time left. You will not lose the game because you played too slowly or because you mistakenly thought it was your opponent's turn.
3) You get notified when a friend logs in (whistle sound). Very convenient isn't it?
4) You get notified when a new message is posted in the inn chat or in a personal chat. You won't miss a message any more.
5) You get a little sound on active buttons. you see better what is active and what is not.
6) You get a sound when you click on a button. You then know that your action has been received by the browser.

To turn on sound effects, look at the top right of the menu page. Click on the little sound icon! Then the 3 sound settings will appear.

We also recommend to turn on atmosphere and music but they are less important. Atmosphere is for the menu page only whereas Music is for the games mostly (but is also played if you select a game via the green dice interface on the main menu)


PS: please note that because of technical limitations on those systems, Android machines can only play Sound effects (not atmosphere and music) while iOS machines cannot play any sound at all.

Hi,

From today, you'll hear a sound when hovering your mouse on most buttons (including the one at the top of the menu page). See this thread for more info: Happy Meeple platform updates

Please give me your feelings about it!

Are there too many sounds? Would it be better to have these sounds only for the top menu icons?

The job is not finished. There are quite a few places where there is no sound but there should be. However if you tell me that there are already too many sounds and it is annoying, I will go backwards.
