Title: Wall of shame
Post by: Alex B. on 18/11/20, 08:45pm
Post here if you had a massive great city and then lost all the points you would have gotten because you forgot that you can’t put a great city next to a mountain.

More than once, I am afraid.  Slow learner, apparently.

Must have happened to me 2 or 3 times until I finally learned. xD

Multiple times.

I learn, then a couple days later I'm studying the board for the best move I can find, suddenly the clock is flashing red, and out of the corner of my eye, I see a great place.

Then I watch in horror as my Great City score drop to zero.

arrrrgh!

Of course I did it.

What about a wall of honour for those who managed to always avoid the mountains honey trap?

It would have to be started by someone who avoided this.  I would not be able to start the Wall of Honour, for that reason.   :-[

Got another.  I was in winter before I realized that the goal was the Golden Granary rather than Mage’s Valley.

I managed a win against Thantham because of this :)

But I totally deserve to be on wall of shame as well.

Me too.  However I have only beaten Tham Map the once in all the matches I have played against this talented player.  Guess what Tham Map did in that specific game - yep -  put his village against a mountain and could not catch me.  So I can say that I won but it was by default rather than my judgement !!!!!! ROFL

Maybe that is Than's idea of charity: once in a (long) while, he plays against a much lower ranked player and makes a deliberate error, to give the rest of the community a sense of hope. ;)

(Still waiting for it to be my turn to benefit from his munificence tho...)

I put it twice in one match against a rock - althought it was edict B: Immediately in the second move and then in the second season. Really unconcentrated and now ashamed!
